Welcome to katyn1940.info, the website devoted to the Polish National Center for Culture's Katyń educational campaign. Here you'll find basic information on the campaign as well as a rich selection of historical material on the Katyń genocide. We shall not abandon the memory of the Katyń tragedy.

The goal of the campaign is best illustrated by its motto: “Remember. Katyń 1940”. Using modern media, we can show how important it is to remember these tragic events. We wish to present not only the well-documented historical facts on a crime committed against 22,000 Poles, but also the people who died in Katyń — the symbolic place of their execution.

The activity of non-governmental organizations and citizens' groups constitutes an important part of this website. For years, their initiative in the fields of art, education and publishing has upheld the memory of the Katyń genocide. This website provides information on the most Katyń-oriented projects. Welcome to our site. Come and join in!

Brigadier General Franciszek Sikorski (third from right) was a P.O.W. at the camp in Starobielsk, and was murdered in Charków in April 1940. Maybe someone will recognize the other officers?
